Obituary

Ray Perry Steele, 60, a native of Bayou La Batre, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021. Perry, was born March 4, 1961, he was a socially active man, who was known well in the community. He was a hard worker and always on the go. 

He is survived by his mother Cendra (Larry) Lartigue, father Ray (Velma) Steele, brothers Craig (Leslie) Steele, Jerome (Angie) Christian and David (Jennifer) Steele, sister Michele (Cliff) Hemphill, daughter Stellie Steele and granddaughter Hannah Walters. 

Visitation service is scheduled for Friday, April 9, 2021 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, at Kenmar Family Funeral Home, 14250 S. Wintzell Ave., Bayou La Batre, Alabama 36509, followed by the graveside service at Oddfellows Cemetery, with C.F. Godwin officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Bryant, John Burns, Dave Childress, Brian Covington, Reggie Godwin, Chris Godwin, Gill Johnson, David Landry, Tony Moore, Paul Nelson, Walter Steele, Daryl Steiner. 

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Perry’s life. The family would like to thank Spring Hill Hospital for taking care of Perry. 

Perry loved Bayou La Batre, especially Coden Beach. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the City of Bayou La Batre, 13785 S. Wintzell Ave, Bayou La Batre, Alabama, 36509 to be used for improvements to Ralston Park, for the children.
