Margaret "Peggie" Louise (Toomer) Craddock

July 11, 1947 ~ June 18, 2021 (age 73)

Obituary

Margaret "Peggie" Louise Craddock (Toomer) was a loving Mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on June 18, 2021 at age 73.

The third of 8 children, Peggie was born to Edward and Augusta Toomer on July 11,1947 in Mobile, AL. She attended Sacred Heart Girls School in Biloxi, MS and college in New York City.

Peggie is survived by her 10 children she loved dearly: Nisan, Mary, Nathan, Sarah, Joseph, Daniel, Richard, John Paul, Mercedes, and Maura. Peggie was lovingly referred to as "Nana" by 21 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren: Kyle, Anthony, Adriana, John, Michaela, Monica, Julia, Ethan, David, Nate, Eva, Isabelle, Emma, Luke, Jacob, Jonah, Roman, Abrielle, Simon, Yona, Zio, Holly, August, and Keanu.

Peggie was a faithful Catholic. Even as a young girl growing up, she would often stop in church on her walk to school for a quick visit with Jesus. Peggie had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother, and loved praying the Rosary daily. Peggie's enthusiasm for the lives of the Saints inspired her to found Our Lady's Bookshelf, a bookstore providing religious books for school-aged children. She was an active member of the Legion of Mary, a dedicated prolife activist especially for the unborn and involved in many works for the Catholic Church. She had a special love for the poor and marginalized and was dedicated to giving what she could to various missions. Peggie grew up singing with her family. She was gifted with a beautiful voice and enriched the lives of her family and church community, singing at weddings, funerals and other events. She loved gardening, being out in nature admiring God's creation. Peggie showed an unconditional love for all and lived her life centered in her Faith in Jesus.
