Lois Marie Gray

November 7, 1942 ~ August 7, 2022 (age 79)

Obituary

Lois Marie Gray, age 79, a long time resident of Semmes, AL, gained her angel wings on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the home of her daughter after an 8 month illness.

She was born on November 7, 1942 in Lucedale, MS. Marie was very family oriented and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally. She was known to be a momma and mawmaw to all who entered her home. She looked so forward to yearly family reunions. She also deeply loved all of her many dogs. Marie was a breast cancer survivor. She enjoyed traveling, baking cakes, and making tons of turkey dressing with her daughter at Thanksgiving. She so missed her husband of 60 years, Jonny, and longed for the day they would be reunited in Heaven; and after 10 months and 2 days of separation, she was finally reunited with the love of her life. Marie was known and often referred to as "An Angel on Earth" by her family.

Marie leaves behind her daughter Susan (Rob) O'Connor; six grandchildren: James (Cheyenne) Waldrop, Alex Waldrop, Noah Waldrop, Robbie (KJ) O'Connor, Jeremy Gray, and Tashina Gray; five great-grandchildren: Cambrie Waldrop, Ayden Waldrop, Violet Waldrop, Michaela Waldrop, and Tinsley O'Connor; her aunt/sister Merle Lawley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Claudia and Macus Lane; her mother Dorothy Harvey; her son Jonny M. Gray, Jr.; her husband Jonny M. Gray, Sr.; and her brother John Nichelson.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 13th, 2022, at 6850 Moffett Rd., Mobile AL, 36618 at 11am. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10am until the service begins at 11am.
