Mobile - Helen Carmilee Smith Jones (Dootsie), 93, wife of the late Elbert Franklin Jones (Lee), went to meet her Savior on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.
Born in Mobile, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Maddie and Oliver Jennings Smith. Dootsie has been a member of Full Gospel Assembly of God, Prichard, Al., St. Elmo Bible Church, and Church of Grace, Irvington.
Dootsie attended Murphy High School. She was a loving and dedicated wife and a dear sweet and blessed mother of 12 children. She loved, she sacrificed, she provided and always thought of others. Her memory will live on in all the lives she touched. Mom, we love you and miss you.
She is survived by her sons and daughters, Terrance Franklin Jones, Barney Laird Jones and wife Tanya, Sandra Diana Kirkland and husband Gary, Tracy Allen Jones, Lori Ann Dickson, Carolyn Josephine Jones Mackey, Cindy Lou Ray, and Christopher Franklin Jones (Scotty) and wife Debbie. Grandchildren Terry Jones Jr. and wife Pam, Scarlett Barkley and husband Hal, Bart Jones and wife Mari, Jennifer Wilkinson and husband Patrick, Rodney Jones and wife Samantha, Starr Johnson and husband Brandon, Nic Sachs, Brett Sachs, Angelia Singleton and husband Chris, Brandi Sweatt and husband John, Daniel Seibert, Jacob Jones, Jeremy Kirkland and wife Tara, Carmilee Jones, David Poiroux and wife Amber, Wesley Poiroux, and Candice Dickson, Joseph Mackey and wife Rose, Jessica Gulizia and husband Michael, Benjamin Mackey, Kristen Jones, Laura Schott and husband Matt, Adam Johnson and wife Katie, Joni Thomas and husband Corky, Chastity Hugo and husband Jose and many, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Oliver Jennings Smith and wife Marie.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ollie Kilpatrick and brother in law DoeDoe, William (Billy) Smith, and Josephine (Jody) Smith. Her children Ronald Eugene Smith, Jerilyn Sue Sachs, Rodney Jennings Jones, and Mickey Lee Jones.
Family and friends are welcome to visit at St. Elmo Bible Church 9170 Argyle Road on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 between the hours of 10:30 am and 12:30 pm for viewing, lunch and fellowship of fond memories. The service will begin at 12:30 pm, all are welcomed but social distancing is requested. Following the service will be the procession to Magnolia Cemetery 1202 Virginia St. Mobile, Al 36604 where Helen Carmilee Smith Jones will be entombed.
