Douglas (Dubby) Miller Grider, age 79, resident of Tanner Williams, AL died peacefully at home January 11, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. He was born September 3, 1942. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Lynda Williams Grider, his parents Betty and Emile Grider and W.C. and Jean Miller.
He leaves behind his loving family, including his two children, Ronald Grider (Kerry) and Kim Booth McDuffie (Johnny). His 9 grandchildren, Chad Grider, Courtney Grider, Kelly Perdue (Anthony), Shaylin Grider, Clay Booth (Savannah), Molly Booth, Maggy Booth, Chase Booth, Caleb Booth. His 7 great grandchildren Caden Cagle, Kaylee-Mae Perdue, Anthony Jr (Shorty) Perdue, Layton Booth, Ryder Booth, Wylie Hancock, and Ava Jane Sargent.
And his siblings Donald Grider (Susan), Pauline Pearson (Henry), Daniel Grider (late Barbara Jean), Norville Miller (Doris) and Darrell Miller (Charlene).
Dubby graduated from Semmes High School where he was elected All County in football, basketball and baseball and he loved all things sports. He was a lifelong member of Tanner Williams United Methodist Church and retired from the Alabama State Docks. Dubby was an avid outdoorsmen and a master gardener.
He was a beloved son, husband, daddy, poppa and friend. He will remain in our memories and hearts forever.
A short visitation will be held at 2PM on Friday, January 14th, 2022 at Tanner Williams United Methodist Church. Immediately following the visitation, those in attendance may proceed to Williams Family Cemetery for the graveside service.
Honoring Dubby as pallbearers are Chad Grider, Clay Booth, Chase Booth, Caleb Booth, Anthony Perdue and Trent Sargent.
