David Leon Barber, age 69, a resident of Alabama Port, passed away in local hospital on July 25, 2022. David was born in Mobile, AL on July 21,1953.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mattie Lyons Pendleton & Amie Joseph Barber, his maternal grandmother Annie Hamilton Lyons, and his brother Edward D. Barber.
David is survived by his son Christopher Barber; 1 brother: Bryan Theriot; 5 sisters: Joan Barber, Ruth Barber Davidson (and her late husband Bill), Shirley Barber Gazzier (Glenn), Mona Lisa Theriot, and Diane Theriot Privett. David had many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
David worked his entire adult life at Schambeau's Food Store in Bayou La Batre until its closure then at Greer's in Bayou La Batre. David also liked to draw and watch wrestling with his younger brother Bryan. He liked old movies and TV family shows. He also liked writing stories and poems as well as creating songs. He was a gentle soul and always had smile for everyone. He will be missed by his family, friends, and community.
