Charles (Chuck) V. Jowers, age 86 of Irvington, AL, passed peacefully at home on April 22, 2022. Chuck was born in Bayou La Batre, AL on April 25, 1935 to the late Robert (Bob) Jowers and Marguerite Murray Jowers.
Chuck was a loving husband, dad, and papa. He served aboard the USS O'Bannon during the Korean War and was a master boat captain for 40 years. He loved playing golf.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Marguerite Jowers, his wife of 52 years Juanita Barber Jowers, his granddaughter Susan Jowers, his sisters Peggy Hardy (Bill), Maxine Frederick (Paul), and Lois Dealy (Jim), and his brothers James (Jimmy) Jowers (Faye) and Wayne Jowers.
He is survived by his children: Leslie Ann Jowers (Ralph), René Lubiani (Tony), Dwayne Jowers (Karen), Roy Steele Jr. (Melanie), Jay Steele (Racheal), and Leonda Steele; his siblings: Robbie Jowers, Tom Jowers (Ida), and Ralph Jowers (Lola); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his special niece: Karen Wolfe; his special friends: Darrell Ladnier and Hudson Moon; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Chuck dearly.
Visitation will be held at Oddfellows Lodge in Bayou La Batre, AL on Friday, April 29, 2022. The family will receive friends at 1:30 PM. The funeral services will begin at 2:30 PM with a graveside service at Oddfellows Cemetery to follow with military honors at 3:30 PM.
